Casual Corner was founded in 1950 in West Hartford, Connecticut. This was the holding company for assorted woman's specialty fashion brands of which August Max Woman ™ was the principal division of.

August Max Woman™ catered to the plus size woman offering them fashionable clothing for work, sports and going out. They were known for their high end photography of plus sized fashion models usually posed in interested and exotic settings. The most famous plus sized models were photographed including the very well known Barbara Brickner.

At its peak, Casual Corner included over 1,300 stores nationwide. Today, full figured woman still insist on viewing fashion on models that reflect their size. August Max Woman™ digital boutique features just that.
